Chai Mingjiong

Zhang Ailing

Dean of GIIT and Professor in Conference Interpreting

Dean of GIIT, SISU, Secretary and Member of Shanghai Committee for MTI Education. She currently teaches Methodology in Interpreting Studies and Interpreting Practice. She also provides interpreting services for international organizations, government agencies, corporations and professional organizations. Her translation works include The New Financial Capitalists.

Jeffrey Yao

Professor in Translation

Professor of translation at GIIT, SISU. He is in charge of the internship programs of GIIT and has provided experienced and productive services in translation, revising and project management for a large number of organizations and international events. He has also been involved in developing national and local standards for language services. He had more than 10 years’ experience in running a translation business in Canada.

Wang Yuwei

Ph.D. in translation, senior translator and editor

He worked at FAO in Rome for two short periods of time in 2012 and 2013. His translation portfolio comprises projects across a number of sectors –legal, finance, business, public sector, PR and art, among others – totaling some three million words/Chinese characters. He has translated/co-translated a number of books, including Mistborn: The Hero of Ages, Ren Zhengfei: Lessons from Battle, etc.

He Wenting

Ph.D. in translation, senior translator and editor

She has extensive experience providing translation and revising service for international organizations like UNEP and FAO, governmental agencies like China’s State Council Information Office, Shanghai Municipal Government, Kunshan Municipal Government and a diversity of other clients from different sectors, including the Organizing Committee of Expo 2010 Shanghai, Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai Airport Authority, and Shanghai Shentong Metro.

Sun Haiqin

Ph.D. in interpretation, senior interpreter

She got the Conference Interpreter Certificate co-signed by senior interpreters of the United Nations, the European Union and Shanghai International Studies University (SHISU) in 2011. For more than a decade, she has been providing interpreting service for international events and has been teaching interpreting in universities. Sun has participated in many training-of-trainer courses.

Xu Qilu

Ph.D. in translation studies, senior interpreter

She has been professionally trained as conference interpreter for 2 years and passed the final exam. She provided consecutive and simultaneous interpreting services for different levels of governments and various international companies, which cover quite a few areas such as economy, finance, trade, culture, education, tourism and machine industry.

Celine Garbutt

Translator and interpreter in English, French, Chinese and Japanese

Member of AIIC and graduated from the Paris school of conference interpreting, ESIT, in 2011. Part-time for the International Union of Railways (UIC) based in Paris (covering railway related subjects such as technical leaflets, specifications, psychology, finance, marketing and legal matters); translator proof reader for the Japanese Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI) publishing arm based in Tokyo, inter alia.

Mei Wenjie

International conference interpreter

Graduated from Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation, Shanghai International Studies University with a master degree in interpretation and a Conference Interpretation diploma in 2010. She has been teaching MI students consecutive interpretation ever since the graduation.

Yang Anqi

Graduated from the Conference Interpreting program of the Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation (GIIT) in 2013 and from the Master of Interpretation program of the same institute in 2014. She now works as a trainer at GIIT.
